| Sessions
are focused on agreed goals and grounded in actual experiences
and current issues. The tense of the work is the ‘present
becoming the future’. It is forward looking.
The Work Consultant poses questions designed
to help the client in a practical way to think about their
life and how they are
living it.
Work
consultancy involves:
- Exploring and clarifying your current situation
- Listening to your concerns and aspirations
- Giving clear and constructive feedback
- Reflecting on your goals, intentions and attitudes
- Exploring your values and assumptions
- Facilitating insight into your way of being and how you
relate to others
- Thinking strategically about issues and priorities
- Reviewing progress
Work Consultancy helps clients clarify the choices and freedom
that exist even in highly pressured work environments. This
facilitates understanding of the responsibilities the client
has to themselves and others, and leads to more authentic
choices about how to live, work and relate to others.
It may be supported by the use of psychometric and peer assessment reports. It can encompass tangible activities like cv writing and interview preparation within the overall context of the client’s purpose.
We usually agree an annual programme involving two hour meetings once a month. Some clients choose to meet more often over a shorter period. This is decided in the initial meeting. Therapeutic support may involve more consistent and regular meeting times but this is discussed with each person. |
